Heatless Adsorption Dryer

Twin-tower heatless adsorption drying: One tower dries compressed air while the other regenerates with a portion of dried product air, allowing continuous operation.

Current catalog range: SMC models are listed from 3.8 to 100 Nm³/min, with 0.6–1.0 MPa working pressure, inlet oil content ≤0.1 mg/m³ and a standard listed pressure-dew-point range of -20°C to -40°C.

Regeneration-air demand: The current catalog lists approximately 14%–20% regeneration gas under its stated conditions. Actual operating cost depends on flow, pressure, duty cycle and compressed-air value.

Desiccant protection: Correct upstream separation and filtration are important because liquid water and oil contamination can reduce adsorption performance and desiccant life.

Final sizing should use actual flow, inlet pressure, inlet temperature, operating schedule and the required pressure dew point. Requirements below the standard catalog range should be confirmed with engineering rather than assumed.

Product Introduction

The Heatless Adsorption Dryer is an energy-efficient compressed air drying system that utilizes the principle of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) to achieve extremely low dew points without requiring external heat for regeneration.

Working Principle

The dryer consists of two towers filled with high-performance adsorbents (such as activated alumina or molecular sieve). While one tower dries the compressed air, the other tower is simultaneously regenerated using a small portion of the dry compressed air (purge air) at atmospheric pressure. The process alternates automatically between the two towers, ensuring continuous dry air supply.
